Higher Standards for Water Conservation

California’s new building code will effect products, homes and building codes near you. The new standards do not apply to remodeling projects. The new California building code is trying to reduce of overall use of water by twenty percent. With these strict water use codes in California other states will begin to adopt these stringent water conservation practices.

“While manufacturers and builders rethink product designs, consumers will notice changes. The flow of multiple showerheads in a single stall cannot exceed the maximum rate required to meet the 20% reduction, or the shower must be designed to only allow one showerhead to operation at a time. Consumers will also have to limit water use for lawns and will need to install controllers that delay irrigation during wet weather.”
