BBBs across the country received complaints from consumers who answered a knock from a door to door salesman who eventually failed to deliver on promises to fix their roof. Complaints to BBB about roofing companies increased by roughly 40 percent in 2010. Start by checking with the local Better Business Bureau, and see if they are a member. This will give you a good idea of how long they have been around, and will indicate whether or not they are just here for now and will be gone when there is a problem. Also, in Minnesota you can call the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and run a check for their license as you want to make sure you are working with a licensed roofing contractor.
